About the Event

The Birdhouse Thing
is a unique event that has become a favorite on the Nashville social scene. A benefit for the
W. O. Smith Music School, The Birdhouse Thing showcases 150 artfully designed birdhouses available for purchase through both live and silent auction . Local artists, architects, celebrities, and public figures donate time and talents to decorate houses for the cause. Past participants include visual artists such as Lanie Gannon, Paul Harmon, Bob McGill, Bill Johnson, Malenda Trick, Herb Williams, Edie Maney and community leaders such as The Honorable Philip Bredesen and Mayor Bill Purcell.

Additionally, Great American Country sponsors an online "celebrity auction" where bids can be made between March 4 - 23rd at opryauction.com and this year features autographed birdhouses and packages from Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, Wynonna, Chris Young and many more.

The Birdhouse Thing attracted over 500 people last year. In addition to the auction, attendees feast on an outstanding selection of food and drink provided by a wide variety of Nashville’s hottest caterers, specialty food shops and, popular dining destinations.

You can support The Birdhouse Thing and the W.O. Smith School by sponsoring the event, or by making in-kind donations for the live and silent auctions.

Sample in-kind donations include artwork, gift certificates, tickets to shows, a round of golf, jewelry, and collectables.
