NASHVILLE, TN: Take flight and support the youth of your community at The 7th Annual Birdhouse Thing on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Each year, event organizers provide wooden birdhouses to local Nashville artists, architects, celebrities and public figures who then fashion a truly unique piece of work by adding their own artful design. These birdhouses are then made available for purchase through live and silent auctions at the event. Don’t miss your chance to participate in this spectacular event, benefiting Nashville’s very own W.O. Smith Music School which will be celebrating the Fall 2008 opening of it’s new school which features 22,000 square feet of usable space including a Performance Hall, 22 teaching studios, a recording studio and a library. This year national recording artists Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Wynonna, Sugarland, Josh Turner, Brad Paisley and others were inspired to tap in to another side of their creativity for the cause. Thebirdhouses autographed by recording artists will be available for purchase through an online auction March 7 – March 21 at www.opryauction.com.Several of the houses that will be available for silent and live auction at the event have been given creative touches by visual artists including Barbara Coon, Bob McGill, Juliana Ericson, Tony Trapani and J.J. Smith Music School is a non-profit educational institution created for the purpose of making quality music instruction available to talented, interested, deserving children from low-income families at the nominal fee of 50 cents per lesson. The School offers instruction in all band and orchestra instruments, piano, guitar, and voice taught by a volunteer music faculty representing many facets of the Nashville music community. The school also seeks to encourage student participation in the cultural life of the community through concert attendance and performance. |
